Accreditation

Modesto Junior College is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and approved by the State Department of Education for training veterans. MJC is authorized under Federal law to enroll non-immigrant, alien students.

Students who complete appropriate lower division courses are given full credit upon transfer to the California State Universities, the University of California, and other four-year colleges as well as universities with which the college maintains articulation agreements.

MJC stands committed to student learning, educational excellence, and institutional effectiveness.  Our college is therefore dedicated to implementing a comprehensive, integrated and continual cycle of planning that uses the collection and evaluation of data, student learning outcomes and program review to measure and improve all aspects of student learning and student services at MJC.

Accreditation is an institutional priority. In a letter dated February 3, the Accrediting Commission notified MJC that it was removed from probationary status. In January of 2008, the Western Association Colleges and Schools had notified the college that it had been placed on Probation Status. It held MJC had not satisfactorily complied with two prior accreditation team recommendations. To address the Accrediting Commission's expectations, college committees developed a college educational plan for the East and West campuses and a model for integrated institutional planning which links strategic planning, program review, student learning outcomes, data collection, enrollment, facilities, and technology to resource allocation.

The institution has made great progress toward implementing strategic and integrated planning.  MJC will continue to fine-tune and use this integrated planning process and cycle, with the ultimate goal of creating a stronger, more effective college for our students and our community.
